you should tell Valerio about your project. i hope there will be external scripts (like this) to download on the mootools page as well.

Wow, guess what: I just finished implementing myself a Lightbox clone using mootools that I called "Moobox", and now I see you did the same!

My version is actually a perfect lightbox clone, written in 100% mootools style (same functions as in Lightbox 2.02, entirely compatible), well, it is even a bit better since the keyboard navigation is more intuitive (for example you can use the arrow keys and the ESC key to close it), and of course the CSS is perfectly valid.

Currently my script is not yet released because it uses some features that are now just part of the latest Mootools SVN release (Window.onDomReady for example), so I'll wait for a new stable release of Mootools before releasing it to the masses.

A word for the author: Maybe we can collaborate on this?

I was actually really considering making a moo-compatible Litebox myself after seeing how light-weight and fast it could be, and knowing that mootools kicks ass... but then I find all this. I'm going to study your script and see how it looks and maybe make some changes.

Christophe, I'd really like to take a look at that Moobox of yours too, it'd be nice if we could get in contact. I don't know how much I could contribute, maybe just some details, but I'd like to at least have a look at the script. I'm always running with the latest SVN version too

I too have made a LightBox/thickbox thing using mootools, specifically as a companion script to my JCE wysiwyg editor for Joomla.

Although designed as a 'mambot' for joomla, the code could be used elsewhere.

This was just a simple "how-to" for the lightBox effect. Some friends have asked me for the "full" version, but I haven't for now the time. The ideia was to join the lightBox with the www.brunofigueiredo.com/.../130.aspx">reflection and shadows effects and the www.brunofigueiredo.com/archive/2006/09/15/93.aspx">strange image labelingeffect, all in one big mix up eh eh eh.

Wow, okay... For the moment, I just want it to be a clone of the original Lightbox and I'm nearly done. I'm waiting for 2 things from Valerio:
1) Fix the onDomReady function (I sent him a better optimized code with all explanations...) so I can use it to load the lightbox when the DOM is ready.
2) Add a return statement to the pass() function. I use pass() for onClick events on the images links and if the function does not return false (my function does but pass() discards the return value), the browser follows the links.

As for the reflection effect, I made my own. Did you notice that the reflection effect from Wollzelle is really slow? Actually it's not ready for production use: try to add 10 reflection effects in the same page and load it on an old G4 iBook as I did, then look at the time it takes to load the page (nearly 30 seconds!). So what I did is implement an optimized version of reflection.js 1.6 using mootools. The code is a bit bigger than yours (2.9kb uncompressed), it does not work in Safari < 2, Opera < 9 and Firefox < 1.5, but it's so much faster! It's using the canvas object to draw graphics using the native API.

Does anyone notice that transition effect is not as smooth (in Firefox) as it was for original lightbox? I think this might have something to do with mootools (vs prototype/scriptaculous) because I noticed the same for other effects in different projects as well.
